Sir William Parsons

Sir William Parsons was buried on March 2nd 1650 in St Margaret's Church Westminster. But he has no gravestone or memorial.

He was the eldest son of James Parsons and his wife Catherine (Fenton) and was born about 1570. He served as Surveyor General in Ireland and commissioner of plantations. Knighted in 1620 he was also Member of Parliament for Co. Wicklow. He was created a baronet and was Lord Justice of Ireland from 1641-1643. Later he returned to England. His wife was Elizabeth daughter of John Lany (she was buried in 1640 at St Patrick's cathedral in Dublin). They had several children. Dame Katherine Barry, wife of Sir James, was probably their daughter who was buried in St Margaret's on 9th November 1653. Their grandson Richard was created Viscount Rosse in 1681.
