Sir Thomas Langton

Sir Thomas Langton, Member of Parliament, was buried in St Margaret's Church Westminster on 20th February 1605 but he has no marker or monument.

He was a son of Leonard Langton and his wife Anne (Leyburn) and was created a Knight of the Bath in 1603. His first wife was Margaret Sherburne (marriage dissolved) and his second was Elizabeth, daughter of Sir John Savage of Clifton.

A tablet to him that was originally in Wigan church but moved to Duxbury Hall said that he was Baron of Newton in Macclesfield (when he succeeded his grandfather Sir Thomas in the title) and the last of his name and that he was descended from an ancient family from Langton in Leicestershire but had lived in Westminster for 44 years. He had no children and was succeeded by his cousin Richard Fleetwood.
