Sir Herbert Price

Sir Herbert Price, Member of Parliament for Brecon in Wales, was buried in Westminster Abbey on 3rd February 1678 but the location is not given in the burial register. His daughter Henrietta Maria Stanhope was buried on 23rd October 1674, again in an unknown location.

He was born in about 1605 and his brother was John Prise. His father was Thomas Price of Herefordshire and his mother was Anne, sister and heir of John Rudhall. He lived at The Priory in Brecon and was created a Baronet in 1657. He served as a Colonel in the army and was Master of Household to Queen Henrietta Maria and Charles II. His wife Goditha, a daughter and co heir of Sir Henry Arden of Park Hall, Warwick, was a lady of the Privy Chamber to the Queen Mother and survived her husband. They had four sons, including Sir Thomas Arden Price, and one daughter.

Henrietta their daughter was a well known maid of honour to the Queen and married at St Andrew's Holborn in London in 1673 Alexander Stanhope, a lawyer (a son of Sir John). It seems she died in childbirth.
