Roger Tonge

Dr Roger Tonge was buried in St Margaret's church Westminster on 2nd September 1549. He has no marker or memorial. He was a Fellow of St John's College Cambridge and a chaplain to Edward VI when he was Prince. He was known as a learned preacher and his sermons against the observance of Lent attracted a lot of attention. His name appears in a commission for the suppression of heresy in 1549.
