Pierson Lloyd

The Revd. Pierson Lloyd D.D., son of Thomas Lloyd of Westminster, was buried in the east cloister of Westminster Abbey on 12th January 1781 aged 77. But he has no monument or marker. He was admitted to Westminster School in 1718 and went on to Trinity College, Cambridge. He was vicar of Croughton in Northamptonshire from 1731-79 and rector at Waddesdon in Buckinghamshire from 1733. He returned to Westminster School as an usher and was then Second Master from 1749-1771. In 1777 he was made a prebendary of York Minster and was Chancellor of that dioceses just before his death.

He married Anne daughter of the Revd. John Maximilian De L'Angle (whose mother Mary was buried in the Abbey on 13th December 1687). They had four children - Robert Lloyd Pierson was educated at Westminster School and became a celebrated poet and died in the Fleet Prison on 15th December 1764; Anne who was baptised at St John's Westminster in 1736; Elizabeth who was buried unmarried in the east cloister on 29th January 1777 and Mary, baptised 1741, who married the Revd. Legh-Hopkins Master, later rector of Limpsfield in Surrey.
