Oliver FitzRegis

Oliver Fitz Regis, who died in 1218 or 1219, was an illegitimate son of King John by Hawise (probably sister of Fulk Fitzwarine). He was born before John succeeded to the throne and fought in the Civil War of 1215-1217, defending Dover castle against the French. He gained much land from the rebels and was granted a castle at Tonge in Kent.

While on the Fifth Crusade he died and it seems his remains were returned to England as William Camden, in his guidebook to the Abbey published in 1600, records his burial but in an unknown location in the church.
