Michael Keall

The ashes of T.G. Michael Keall, Head Master of Westminster Abbey Choir School 1977-1987, were buried in the vault of the lower Islip Chapel in the Abbey on 28th September 2019.

He was born in London on 5th March 1931, a son of John (sometime President of the Pharmaceutical Society) and his second wife Dorothy (Hubbard), and educated at King's College Choir School Cambridge. He later taught at the school there for a few years. During his National Service he held a commission in the Royal Artillery. Afterwards, he worked at Bedford School and Portsmouth Grammar school and was Head Master at Eastbourne College Preparatory school before coming to the Abbey. His great interest was in sport, especially cricket and rugby. On taking early retirement he became Junior Bursar at Magdalene College, Cambridge until 1993 and Alumni Secretary there until 2012. He died unmarried on 7th July.
