Hon. Jane Hyde

The Hon. Jane Hyde was buried in the east cloister of Westminster Abbey on 28th July 1778. Her gravestone is now worn but is next to that of the Reverend C. Cracherode. The inscription read:

Sacred to the memory of the Hon. Jane Hyde daughter of Benedict, Lord Baltimore and relict [widow] of John Hyde Esq. of Berkshire, ob.[died] 15 July 1778 aged 74

Her parents were Benedict Calvert, 5th Lord Baltimore, and Lady Charlotte Lee, daughter of the 1st Earl of Lichfield. She married on 10th June 1720 John Hyde, then a colonel in the Guards (who died in 1746 and is buried at Southampton). Her will was proved by her daughter Catherine, wife of the Reverend Thomas Willis, rector of Bletchley in Buckinghamshire.
