Jack and Barbara Bovender Organ Scholar

Evan grew up in Dublin, where he was Junior Organ Scholar at Christ Church Cathedral. He became a prize-winning Fellow of the Royal College of Organists aged 20, and continues his organ studies with Daniel Moult. While in London, he has held Organ Scholarships at the Brompton Oratory, St Mary’s, Battersea, and Grosvenor Chapel.  

Evan graduated with First-Class Honours in Violin Performance from the Guildhall School, also undertaking an orchestral fellowship with Sinfonia Smith Square and going on to secure several ongoing professional trials.

He has received additional organ lessons with Henry Fairs, Eric Lebrun, Pieter van Dijk, and Sietze de Vries, and gives regular recitals, including at the Three Choirs Festival, and at Westminster, Southwark and St Paul’s Cathedrals.

About the Organ Scholar position

The Organ Scholar at Westminster Abbey plays during services in the Abbey with the Sub-Organist and Assistant Organist, and assists in the training of the choristers.
