Discover what it's like to sing in our world-famous choir, and the incredible education offered by our Choir School for boys ages 8 - 13.
Each term we offer boys who are interested a chance to experience what it might be like to be an Abbey chorister. Register soon for Saturday 13 June.
Westminster Abbey Choir School is a school like no other!
Believed to have been founded around 1560, we are the only remaining choir school in the United Kingdom which exclusively educates choristers. Boys from across the UK, and sometimes even further afield, attend our school between the ages of 8 and 13 and receive a highly subsidised education in very small classes.
The small classes and outstanding pastoral care provided by our school mean that the boys can fully engage with a broad and balanced academic curriculum, and immerse themselves in the considerable opportunities afforded by singing in one of the finest choirs of its type in the world.
A love of singing and an enthusiasm for music are all that is required: no formal training is necessary.
When we select choristers we look for boys we think will really thrive in this environment. We like boys to start in Year 4 and we are looking for potential, so it doesn’t matter if your son hasn’t done very much singing yet. We can provide all the training he needs. What is more important is that he has a clear, unforced voice, a good ‘ear’ and, most important of all perhaps, that he is up for a challenge and keen to give it his all.
If you're interested in exploring this opportunity for a boy in your life, please be in touch with us. We'd love to talk to you.
At different times of the day, or in different seasons, the light falling in the Abbey will light up something that you have walked past a million times and never seen before.
