About the choir
There are 24 girls in the St Margaret’s Choristers, who are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds and schools across London, and come together three times a week to rehearse in St Margaret’s.
The choir’s primary duty is to sing at the 6pm Sunday service in St Margaret’s; they also sing regular Wednesday evensongs in the Abbey, and alongside Westminster Abbey Choir at occasional services. The St Margaret’s Choristers most often sing with the professional lower voices of the St Margaret’s Consort, but also sing as an ensemble in their own right. The choir has already sung at a number of notable special events, including the choir’s very first service on the 500th Dedication Festival of the current church, commemorations of suffragette Emily Wilding Davidson and abolitionist Ignatius Sancho, and a carol service for the MS Society broadcast by Classic FM.
Building on the historic link between St Margaret’s and the Houses of Parliament, the choristers have given performances in the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft, the oldest surviving part of the Palace of Westminster. In June 2025, the choir made its concert debut in collaboration with The English Concert. They will undertake their first tour in August 2026, singing in venues across Paris.
