• A brief history of Westminster Abbey

  L'Abbaye de Westminster est le lieu de couronnement des rois depuis celui de Guillaume le Conquérant en 1066. Elle a également vu de nombreux mariages et enterrements royaux, sans parler des célébrations nationales et autres commémorations.

• Sophia, Countess of Darlington

  Sophia Charlotte, Countess of Darlington, was buried in the Duke of Ormond’s vault at the east end of Henry VII's chapel on 24th April 1725.

• Sophia Fairholm, Marchioness of Annandale & sons

  In the south choir aisle is a monument to Sophia Fairholm, Marchioness of Annandale. She was buried with her son Lord William Johnstone.

• Princess Amelia

  Amelia is one of several children of George II to be buried in a vault below an aisle of Henry VII's chapel in Westminster Abbey.

• George II and Caroline

  George II and Queen Caroline were crowned in the Abbey on 11th October 1727. They are buried next to each other in the Lady Chapel.

• Elizabeth Stuart, Queen of Bohemia

  Princess Elizabeth Stuart was buried in the south aisle of Henry VII's chapel. She was the only surviving daughter of James VI of Scotland.

• George Lindsay Johnstone

  Politician

  Politician George Lindsay Johnstone was buried in the south cloister of Westminster Abbey. His monument can now be seen in the triforium galleries.

• Ludovic, Frances & Esme Stuart

  Diplomat

  Ludovic Stuart, Duke of Richmond and Lennox, and several members of his family are buried in a vault in the Lady chapel at Westminster Abbey. He has a large monument.

• George I

  George I was crowned at Westminster Abbey on 20th October 1714. He could not speak much English and the ceremonies were mostly conducted in Latin.

• Wardour family

  Anna Sophia Wardour and two sons are buried in the centre part of the nave. Their graves are now marked by small lozenge stones.

• Edwin Fedarb

  In St Margaret's church Westminster is a decorated wall brass to Edwin Horatio Fedarb, choirmaster at the church from 1889-1896.

• Frederic, Baron Schulenberg

  Frederic William, Baron Schulenberg was buried in the south transept of Westminster Abbey on 14th January 1720. He has no monument or gravestone.

• James, Lord Cranstoun

  James, Lord Cranstoun was buried in the south transept of Westminster Abbey on 14th July 1773. He seems never to have had an inscribed gravestone.

• Anna Beaumont

  In the chapel of St Nicholas is the shrine of Anna Sophia daughter of Christophe de Harley, Comte de Beaumont, Ambassador from the French Court.

  Admiral Sir George Pocock has a white marble memorial in St John the Evangelist's chapel in Westminster Abbey. It shows a seated figure of Britannia.

• Sir Walter Scott

  Writer

  A bust of eminent novelist Sir Walter Scott was unveiled in Poets' Corner in 1897. It was the gift of a group of Scott's admirers.

• Ernest Hawkins

  Priest/Minister

  In the east cloister is a marble monument in the form of a cross to the Reverend Ernest Hawkins, Canon of Westminster from 1864-1868.

• Henry Carr

  In the south transept is the grave of Major Henry Carr. It is worn on one side but the name can still be seen.

• Kenneth Muir Mackenzie

  Politician

  In the north cloister is the grave of politician Kenneth, Baron Muir Mackenzie. He was born on 29th June 1845 at Delvine in Perthshire.
