  King George V was crowned in Westminster Abbey on 22nd June 1911. He supported proposals for the burial of the Unknown Warrior in the Abbey.

  The ashes of Air Chief Marshal Hugh Caswall Tremenheere Dowding, 1st Baron Dowding of Bentley Priory, are buried in the Royal Air Force chapel.

• Prince of Wales attends Order of the Bath installation

  His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, Great Master of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, attended a Service for the Order at Westminster Abbey on Thursday 24th May 2018 in the Order’s 293rd year including the Ceremony for the Installation of Knights Grand Cross of the Order in the Lady Chapel, the Chapel of the Order.

• The King celebrates Commonwealth Day 2023 at the Abbey

  Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort attended the annual Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey at 2.45pm on Monday 13th March - The King’s first as monarch.

  William was a son of George III and Queen Charlotte. He and Queen Adelaide were crowned in Westminster Abbey on 8th September 1831.

• Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother

  Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother was married and crowned in the Abbey and had her funeral here in 2002.

  Albert Edward, eldest son of Queen Victoria, was born in 1841. His coronation, with his wife Alexandra of Denmark, was held on 9th August 1902.

  The ashes of Ralph Vaughan Williams, eminent British composer, and his second wife Ursula are buried in the north choir aisle of Westminster Abbey.

  In the nave Abbey is a Roll of Honour book for members of the Metropolitan Police who died in the 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 wars.

  Following a service in St Margaret's to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day, a plaque was put in at the west end of the church.

  On 13th March 2014 a memorial stone was unveiled to Sir David Frost in Poets' Corner, Westminster Abbey during his thanksgiving service.

  A memorial stone to Admiral Arthur Phillip, founder of New South Wales in Australia, can be seen in the centre part of the nave.

  A memorial stone to Anthony Trollope, novelist, was unveiled in Poets' Corner in Westminster Abbey by Prime Minister John Major on 25th March 1993.

  A memorial of slate was unveiled for Thomas Clarkson, abolitionist, on 26th September 1996, being placed between the statues of William Wilberforce and Stamford Raffles.

  Writer and Poet

  The ashes of Rudyard Kipling, poet and writer, were buried in Poets' Corner at noon on 23rd January 1936. His books include The Jungle Book.

• Sir John Alexander Macdonald

  Politician and Lawyer

  In the chapel of the Order of the Bath there is an enamelled stall plate for Sir John Alexander Macdonald, first Prime Minister of Canada.

  Writer, Poet and Novelist

  A memorial stone for poet and writer Philip Arthur Larkin, C.H., C.B.E., was unveiled in Poets' Corner Westminster Abbey on 2nd December 2016.
