Richard Trevithick

A stained glass window to Richard Trevithick, Cornish inventor and engineer known as the 'father of the locomotive engine', can be seen in the nave of Westminster Abbey.
In 1797 he married Jane (1772-1868), daughter of John Harvey, and had six children: Richard, John, Francis, Frederick, Anne and Elizabeth.

The poet Sir William Davenant is buried in Poets' Corner. He was buried in the grave from which his rival Thomas May had been ejected.
He was a son of John Davenant of Oxford and his wife Jane (Sheppard) and was baptised on 3rd March 1606.
