Abbey Sub-Dean appointed Dean of Durham

The Venerable Andrew Tremlett, Sub-Dean of Westminster and Rector of St Margaret's Church, has been appointed Dean of Durham. He will take up his new post at Durham Cathedral in the summer. He succeeds the Very Reverend Michael Sadgrove who retired in September.

New research explores medieval Westminster's holy relics

Westminster Abbey is the burial place of Edward the Confessor, England's best-known royal saint. His body lies in a magnificent shrine at the heart of the Abbey as its major relic. But the medieval Abbey was also home to many other relics - the physical remains of saints, venerated by worshippers and pilgrims. These relics came to Westminster from across Europe and the Holy Land throughout the Middle Ages and were kept in sacred spaces around the church.
