New Minor Canon appointed

The Reverend Michael Macey has been appointed Minor Canon of Westminster, to succeed the Reverend Deiniol Morgan, who leaves the Abbey on 14th October having accepted a full-time commission in the Royal Army Chaplains’ Department.

The ashes of Laurence Olivier, Baron Olivier of Brighton, the greatest actor of his generation, are buried in the south transept of Westminster Abbey.

On 26th November 1695 Purcell was buried in the north aisle of the choir. This was where the organ stood at this time.
