  Two 13th century manuscripts go on display in our Galleries as part of celebrations to mark the 750th anniversary of the rebuilding of the church.

• Edmund, 1st Earl of Kent

  Soldier

  Edmund of Woodstock, 1st Earl of Kent, was a son of Edward I. He was executed for treason in March 1330 outside Winchester castle and was later brought to the Abbey for burial.

• Cecily, Countess of Rutland and son

  Cecily Manners, Countess of Rutland was buried in St Nicholas' chapel but has no monument. Her son Francis is buried in St Michael's chapel.

  Eleanor, Countess of Bar, daughter of Edward I and his queen Eleanor of Castile, was buried in Westminster Abbey but the location is unknown.

  Soldier and Diplomat

  The tomb of Sir Thomas Vaughan, died 1483, is in St John the Baptist's chapel. A Purbeck marble tomb chest stands in an arched canopy.

• Mary, Lady Dudley and Lord Dudley

  In the south aisle of St Margaret's church Westminster is a large monument to Mary, wife of Edward Sutton, Lord Dudley. Both are buried in the church.

  Sir James Croft, governor of Berwick upon Tweed and Lord Deputy of Ireland, was buried in St John the Evangelist's chapel in Westminster Abbey.

  Susan de Vere, Countess of Montgomery, was buried in St Nicholas' chapel but has no gravestone or memorial.

  Richard, Earl of Cornwall is not buried in Westminster Abbey but his carved shield is displayed in the nave of the Abbey.

  On the wall of the south choir aisle of Westminster Abbey is the carved shield of Henry de Lacy, 5th Earl of Lincoln (1249-1311).

  Philanthropist

  Philippa Mohun, Duchess of York was buried in St Nicholas' chapel. Her altar tomb was originally in the centre of the chapel but was moved.

  Poet, Playwright and Historian

  Sir Robert Howard, poet, dramatist and historian, and Sir Thomas Howard, created Earl of Berkshire, are buried in the chapel of St John the Baptist.

• Henry V and Catherine de Valois

  Henry’s tomb is below his elaborate chantry chapel in Westminster Abbey. His funeral armour and the effigy of his wife, Catherine de Valois, can be seen in the Abbey Galleries.

  The grave of Richard Courtenay, bishop of Norwich, was re-discovered in October 1953 in the chapel of St Edward the Confessor in Westminster Abbey.
