Singing returns to the Abbey

Knights and dragons
Knights have long been a part of Westminster Abbey’s story, with many buried and remembered inside the church. Today, the Lady Chapel even remembers modern knights during their lifetime. The Knights of the Order of the Bath each have their own special flag and crest. Over to you to explore what it takes to be a knight, perhaps even defeating a few dragons…

World of Work Days
Since its foundation in 1976, The Prince’s Trust has supported over a million young people aged 11-30 through a range of courses, grants and mentoring support. The Trust’s work assists young people to improve skills, increase self-confidence and helps them to move into jobs, education, training and volunteering. David Williams, from the Trust’s Delivery Partnership and Volunteering Team, explores how partnering with Westminster Abbey helps fulfil these aims.

Conservation viewing area opens

Westminster Abbey has opened a new conservation studio in the cloisters, offering visitors the opportunity to watch as objects are prepared for display in The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Galleries.

Speaker’s Chaplain installed as Canon of Westminster

The Reverend Tricia Hillas, Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons, was installed as a Canon of Westminster during Evensong at Westminster Abbey on Sunday 9th May 2021.

Exploration and investigation

A memorial to poet and critic Alexander Pope was inserted in the stained glass window in Poets' Corner and was unveiled on 7th June 1994.

Poet
Ted Hughes, Poet Laureate, unveiled a memorial to nature poet John Clare in Poets' Corner. This is an oval mural tablet of LePine limestone.
