  In Poets' Corner is a small oval mural tablet with a lyre to John Keats. This is joined to an identical tablet for Percy Shelley.

  John Darcy died of quinsy on 6th and was buried on 11th January 1689 near one of the pews (so presumably in the Quire area).

  John Varnam or Varneham, gardener of Westminster, was buried in St Margaret's Church on 15th December 1586 aged 46. There was once a long epitaph to him but this no longer remains.

  John Parsons, organist and composer, is buried in the cloisters. He was the Abbey's Master of Choristers from 1613-1623, and Organist from 1621.

  Dr John Gadbury, writer, astrologer and astronomer, was buried in St Margaret's Church Westminster on 28th March 1704. He has no memorial.

  John Spottiswood, Archbishop of St Andrews, died in London of a fever and was buried with great pomp in the chapel of St Benedict.

  Poet John Philips is commemorated in Poets' Corner in Westminster Abbey. His standing monument of white marble is next to that of Geoffrey Chaucer.

  John Thorndike (Thorndyke), younger brother of Abbey clergyman Herbert Thorndike, emigrated to New England in the early 1630s and married Elizabeth Stratton. He is buried in the east cloister of the Abbey.

  Sir John Salisbury, one of the knights of the chamber of King Richard II, is buried in St John the Baptist's chapel in Westminster Abbey.
