• Nelson Mandela honoured with memorial stone

  A memorial stone to Nelson Mandela was dedicated in Westminster Abbey on 18th July 2018, the birth centenary of the former President of South Africa.

  In the north ambulatory is the grave of Brian Duppa, Bishop of Winchester. His nephew, Sir Thomas Duppa, is buried in the north choir aisle.

  The poet Robert Browning is buried in Poets' Corner. His wife, poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning, is buried in Florence, but is memorialised in Westminster Abbey.

  In the north choir aisle of Westminster Abbey is a white marble monument to Vice Admiral Temple West. This is by the sculptor Joseph Wilton.

  Just inside the west door of Westminster Abbey, at the base of a pillar is a memorial to the Earl and Countess Mountbatten of Burma.
