• Henry I

  Henry I’s coronation took place at Westminster Abbey on 5th August 1100. He married Princess Matilda of Scotland at Westminster Abbey on 11th November 1100.

• Matilda (Maud) wife of Henry I

  The marriage of Matilda of Scotland to King Henry I in 1100 united the Saxon and Norman lines. She is buried near the Shrine of St Edward in Westminster Abbey but has no tomb or memorial.

• Mary, Duchess of Brittany

  Mary of Brittany, fourth daughter of Edward III and his queen Philippa of Hainault, has a small bronze statuette on the tomb of her father.

  Actor

  A memorial stone to the actress Dame Peggy Ashcroft was unveiled in Poets' Corner in 2005. The stone is near Laurence Olivier’s grave.

• Nicholas Boscawen

  Soldier

  Nicholas Boscawen, from Cornwall, was a colonel in Oliver Cromwell's Parliamentary army and was buried in the Quire in Westminster Abbey. His body was exhumed at the Restoration.

• Frances Brandon, Duchess of Suffolk & family

  Frances Brandon, Duchess of Suffolk was buried in St Edmund's chapel in Westminster Abbey, with her daughter Mary Grey. Also Margaret, Countess of Derby.

  A memorial to author and critic John Ruskin was unveiled in Poets' Corner on 8th February 1902. The bronze roundel encloses a portrait.

• John Rutherford

  John Rutherford died on 21st June 1781 and was removed from his original burial place at Olne in Germany to the north cloister for burial.

• Samuel Pierson

  On the south wall of St Margaret's church is a memorial to Samuel Pierson. He presented a ceremonial loving cup which can be seen in the new Abbey Galleries.

  In St Margaret's is a small 15th century carved figure of St Margaret of Antioch and the dragon given in memory of John Rankin Rathbone.

  Aaron Hill, poet and dramatist, was buried in the west cloister of Westminster Abbey on 18th February 1750 alongside his wife Margaret.

  A memorial to chemist Sir William Ramsay was unveiled in the north choir aisle on 3rd November 1922 by the Duke of York.

  Thomas Prickard was buried in the north cloister on 23rd September 1795. He was Coroner and Clerk of the Markets for the City of Westminster.

  On 7th July 2015 a memorial stone for James Callaghan, former Labour Prime Minister, was unveiled near memorials to Harold Wilson and other Prime Ministers.

  Writer

  A bust of eminent novelist Sir Walter Scott was unveiled in Poets' Corner in 1897. It was the gift of a group of Scott's admirers.
