  Andrew Graham-Dixon from The Culture Show reveals the story of the 13th century Cosmati pavement at the High Altar in Westminster Abbey, currently undergoing conservation work, which he describes as “one of the wonders of medieval Britain".

  Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector, was buried in Westminster Abbey following his death in 1658. However, he was exhumed after the Restoration.

  At the west end of the Nave is the grave of the Unknown Warrior, whose body was brought from France to be buried in 1920.

  Sir George Villiers, his wife Mary, son George 1st Duke of Buckingham and others of the family are buried in Westminster Abbey.

  Joan was a daughter of Edward I. On the 30th April 1290 she married Gilbert de Clare, 3rd Earl of Gloucester in Westminster Abbey.

  Soldier

  Sir James Leith, army officer, is buried in the centre part of the nave. He died of yellow fever in Barbados on 16th October 1816.

• Jonathan Chadwick Durden

  Jonathan Chadwick Durden was buried in the east cloister in 1782. His grave is just by the gates and can now only be faintly read.

• George, Duke of Kent, son of George V

  Soldier and Sailor

  On 29th November 1934, George Edward, Duke of Kent, married Princess Marina, daughter of Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark, in Westminster Abbey.

• Sir Charles Rich

  Sailor

  Sir Charles Rich, naval captain, was buried in St Margaret's Church Westminster in 1706 but has no memorial.

• Ukraine Ambassador attends wreath laying at Innocent Victims’ Memorial

  The Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Vadym Prystaiko, was present for the wreath laying in honour of the victims of the current war in Ukraine.

• Thomas Whitney and family

  Thomas Whitney was buried at St Margaret's Westminster in 1637 but has no marker. Many of his children were baptised at the church.

• Edward, Lord Herbert of Cherbury

  The grave of Edward, 3rd Lord Herbert of Cherbury and 3rd Baron of Castle Island is in St Edmund's chapel. The stone has been re-cut.

• Robert Constable, Viscount Dunbar

  Just inside the gates of the north choir aisle is a mural marble monument for Robert Constable, Viscount Dunbar and his second wife.

  Mary, Duchess of Hamilton was buried in May 1638 in the vault of the Countess of Buckingham on the north side of Henry VII's chapel.

  William Woollett, celebrated English carver of his day, has a memorial in the west cloister. It shows his bust with a relief of his studio.

  The coat of arms of Sir Denis Mountain, 3rd Baronet, can be seen in the lower section of the west window of the Lady Chapel.

• James and Charlotte Fisher

  In the west cloister is the grave of James Fisher and his sister Charlotte. They were children of the Reverend Francis Fisher of Burpham, Surrey.
