    Major General Charles George Gordon (known as Gordon of Khartoum) has a memorial in the north west tower chapel near the Abbey’s west entrance.

    Charles Boyle, 4th Earl of Orrery, Baron Boyle of Marston, Baron of Broghill in Ireland, Knight of the Thistle, was buried on 11 September 1731.

    Soldier

    General Sir Charles Wills, army officer, is buried in the north transept but he has no monument or gravestone. He died on 25th December 1741.

  • Charles Montague, 1st Earl of Halifax

    Poet and Statesman

    Charles Montague (or Mountague), 1st Earl of Halifax, Knight of the Garter, is buried in the vault of General Monk in Henry VII's chapel.

    Westminster Abbey has received two further generous contributions towards The King Charles III Sacristy, a new building which is being constructed to transform the welcome we offer our visitors and worshippers.

    In the nave is a brass covering the grave of architect Sir Charles Barry and a memorial window for his son, Sir John Wolfe Barry.

    Charles James Fox, statesman, has a monument in the nave. Henry Vassal Fox, 3rd Baron Holland, his nephew, has a large monument behind that to Charles.

    Charles de St. Denis, Sieur (or Lord) of St Evremond, soldier and writer, was buried in Poets' Corner in Westminster Abbey.
