  His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales KG and Miss Catherine Middleton were married at Westminster Abbey on Friday 29th April 2011.

  In the north transept is a memorial stone to six soldiers, including General Sir Henry Barnard, who served and died in the Indian Mutiny.

  In the north aisle of the nave of Westminster Abbey are monuments to Dame Elizabeth Carteret, Edward and Philip Carteret.

• Diana, Princess of Wales

  Diana, Princess of Wales was tragically killed in a car accident on 31st August 1997. Her funeral was held in Westminster Abbey on 6th September.

  Charles Fitzcharles, Earl of Plymouth was buried on 18th January 1681 (modern dating) in the vault in Henry VII's chapel formerly occupied by Oliver Cromwell.

  John Bligh, Earl of Darnley, politician, was buried on 25th September 1728 in the north ambulatory, near the steps leading up to the Lady Chapel.
