• Abbey Bookshop Golden Jubilee

  The building which now houses the Bookshop was constructed in the 1830s by Edward Blore, Abbey Surveyor, as an office for the Chapter Clerk.

• Didachus Sanchez

  In the north transept of Westminster Abbey is a worn grey marble stone, now without inscription, which covers the remains of Spanish soldier Didachus Sanchez.

• It’s all about the (career) journey

  Since its foundation in 1976, The Prince’s Trust has supported over a million young people aged 11-30 through a range of courses, grants and mentoring support. The Trust’s work assists young people to improve skills, increase self-confidence and helps them to move into jobs, education, training and volunteering. David Williams, from the Trust’s Delivery Partnership and Volunteering Team, explores how partnering with Westminster Abbey helps fulfil these aims.

• Thomas Browne

  Priest/Minister

  Thomas Browne, Head Master of Westminster School from 1564-1570, was buried in the north transept. He authored Thebais, a tragedy and several occasional poems.

• Robert & Olave Baden-Powell

  Soldier

  In the nave, against the screen of St George’s chapel, is a memorial stone to Lord and Lady Baden-Powell. Both are buried in Kenya.

• Sir William Trussell

  Statesman

  Sir William Trussell was buried in St Michael's chapel in Westminster Abbey. A legacy was received from him by the Abbey sacrist in 1346-1347.

• William Punter

  Musician

  William Punter, Precentor of Westminster Abbey and musician, was buried in the cloisters in 1597 but the exact location is not known.

• Edward Grant

  Writer and Priest/Minister

  Reverend Edward Grant was a prebendary of Westminster from 1577-1601, Sub-Dean, and Head Master of Westminster School 1572-1593. He was buried in the north transept.

• Emily and Alexander Murray Smith

  Writer

  In the west cloister is a memorial stone to Emily Tennyson Bradley, daughter of the Dean of Westminster, and her husband Alexander Murray Smith.

• Edward, Lord Herbert of Cherbury

  The grave of Edward, 3rd Lord Herbert of Cherbury and 3rd Baron of Castle Island is in St Edmund's chapel. The stone has been re-cut.

• Herbert Francis Westlake

  Priest/Minister

  In the east cloister of Westminster Abbey is the grave of the Reverend Herbert Francis Westlake, Minor Canon of Westminster Abbey.

• Bartholomew Dodington

  Bartholomew Dodington, Greek scholar, was buried in the north transept. His grave is no longer marked but the inscription was recorded by William Camden.
