    The Venerable Andrew Tremlett, Sub-Dean of Westminster and Rector of St Margaret's Church, has been appointed Dean of Durham. He will take up his new post at Durham Cathedral in the summer. He succeeds the Very Reverend Michael Sadgrove who retired in September.

    In Henry VII's chapel is a small tablet in memory of Cecil Rhodes. This was given by officials and businessmen from Southern Rhodesia in 1953.

    Stephen, 2nd Baron Catto of Cairncatto was a trustee of and benefactor to the Westminster Abbey Restoration Appeal. In Henry VII's chapel is a window.

    The Parliament Choir's Coronation Jubilee Concert was switched from Westminster Hall to the Abbey at just 33 hours notice after two pieces of oak cladding fell 100ft from the hammer beam roof of the hall.
