    A Service of Thanksgiving and Re-commitment to mark the 20th Anniversary of The National Holocaust Centre and Museum was held at Westminster Abbey at 6.30pm on Sunday 26th June.

  • Her Majesty The Queen attends Abbey Somme Service

    Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh attended a Service and Vigil on the Eve of the Centenary of the Battle of the Somme at Westminster Abbey on Thursday 30th June 2016.

  • George VI

    The coronation of George VI and Queen Elizabeth was held at Westminster Abbey on 12th May 1937. They married at the Abbey on 26th April 1923.

  • Queen Alexandra, wife of Edward VII

    Queen Alexandra was born in 1844, the daughter of King Christian IX of Denmark. With her husband Edward VII, she was crowned in 1902.

  • Henry Frederick, Duke of Cumberland

    Henry Frederick, Duke of Cumberland and Strathern and Earl of Dublin was buried in the Hanoverian vault below the central aisle of Henry VII's chapel.

    The ashes of trade unionist Ernest Bevin were buried in the north aisle of the nave in 1951. The address was given by Clement Attlee.

    Sir George Pollock, army officer, was buried in the nave, to the west of Lord Clyde. He was the fifth son of David Pollock.

    A memorial stone to Welsh poet Dylan Thomas was unveiled on 1st March 1982. It lies between memorials to Lord Byron and George Eliot.

  • Oscar Wilde

    Writer, Poet and Playwright

    On 14th February 1995 a small stained glass memorial was unveiled in Poets' Corner Westminster Abbey for Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wilde, playwright and aesthete.

    HM The King and HRH The Prince of Wales attended a service for The Most Honourable Order of the Bath at Westminster Abbey on Friday 16th May. The King is Sovereign of the Order and the Prince of Wales was today installed as its Great Master.
