Westminster Abbey to be lit for Lumiere London Festival

Westminster Abbey will be the spectacular backdrop for a light installation as part of Lumiere London, the city's first major light festival. The exterior of the Abbey will be lit each evening of the festival, from Thursday 14th - Sunday 17th January 2016.

William of Normandy, known as 'the Conqueror', was born in 1027. He invaded England and defeated Harold II at the battle of Hastings in 1066.

James II was born on 14th October 1633. His coronation with his queen, Mary of Modena, took place at Westminster Abbey on 23rd April 1685.
