• St Margaret's Church marks end of an era

  A Sung Eucharist of Thanksgiving was held in St Margaret’s Church at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 31st October 2020.

• Louis Bennett & Royal Flying Corps

  Airman

  In 1922 a stained glass window was unveiled in Westminster Abbey to members of the Royal Flying Corps 1914-1918 given by Mrs Louis Bennett.

• Lord Robens of Woldingham

  Politician and Philanthropist

  As a generous donor to the Westminster Abbey restoration appeal Lord Robens of Woldingham, politician and industrialist, has a small stained glass window.

• Samuel Barton and Jane Wowen

  Priest/Minister

  On a pillar in the south transept is a memorial to Dr Samuel Barton. His daughter Jane and her husband John Wowen are also buried here.

• John Pym

  Statesman

  John Pym, politician in the time of Cromwell, died in 1643. He was buried in Westminster Abbey but his remains were exhumed at the Restoration.

• Henry Temple, Viscount Palmerston

  Statesman

  Henry John Temple, Viscount Palmerston, Prime Minister, is buried with his wife in the north transept. There is an over life-size statue of him nearby.

• Piers Griffith

  Sailor

  Piers Griffith, pirate, was buried somewhere in the south transept but his gravestone no longer remains. He was accused of piracy by the Spanish Ambassador.

• George Grote

  Historian

  George Grote, celebrated historian, is buried in the south transept. He was a Royal Society Fellow, University of London Vice-Chancellor, British Museum trustee and MP.

• John Masefield

  Poet

  The ashes of poet and novelist John Masefield were buried in Poets’ Corner on 20th June 1967. The grave adjoins that of Robert Browning.

• Edward and Owen Reynolds

  On the south wall of St Margaret's church Westminster is a monument to brothers Edward and Owen Reynolds.

• Charles Shaw-Lefevre, Viscount Eversley

  Lawyer

  On the south wall of St Margaret's church is a brass in memory of Charles Shaw-Lefevre, Viscount Eversley (1794-1888), Speaker of the House of Commons.

  In the west cloister of Westminster Abbey are buried David Davis and his wife Anne and their only son Walter.
