Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan visited Westminster Abbey on Tuesday 25th June as part of their State Visit to the United Kingdom.
The Emperor last visited the Abbey in September 2022 when he attended the State Funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II .

The Abbey notes with sadness the death of Martin Neary, who was Organist and Master of Choristers from 1988 to 1998.
In 1997, he directed the music for the Funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales, for which he was appointed a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO).

Colin Williams (1942-2015) was an Abbey Honorary Steward (from 1992-2012) and a generous donor to the appeal for the restoration of Henry VII's chapel.
