  A memorial tablet to the Reverend John Savage was originally erected in the east cloister but has been moved to the Dark Cloister.

  Musician

  John Rice, sometime organist of Trinity Church, New York, USA, was buried with his father in the south cloister on 24 March 1808, aged 84.

• Muzio Clementi

  Musician and Composer

  The Italian musician Muzio Clementi is buried in the south cloister of the Abbey. The directors of the Philharmonic Society requested his burial here.

  Dr William Turner, singer and composer, was buried with his wife in the west cloister. For the coronation of James II he wrote two anthems.

• William Dobson

  On the wall of the west cloister, near his grave (which is still readable), is a white marble tablet in memory of William Dobson.

  In the west cloister is the grave of Sir Walter Tapper, architect. The Lady Chapel’s altar was designed by him shortly before his death.

  The Reverend Dr Francis Durant De Breval was buried in the south transept on 29th January 1708 but there is nothing to mark his grave.

  Magdalen Walsh was buried in the east cloister. Her monument, by Peter Scheemakers, was originally in this walk but was moved to the south cloister.

  The Reverend Thomas Vialls is buried in the east cloister and has a gravestone and wall tablet there. His grave is near the gates.

  Mary Shelvocke was buried in the west cloister on 1st August 1761. Her stone has now nearly worn away and the inscription is very faint.

  Susanna Cibber, actress, is buried in the north cloister. She seems never to have had an inscribed gravestone and there is no memorial to her.

  John Church, composer, was buried in the south cloister of Westminster Abbey on 10th January 1741. The Precentor called him "very worthy and honest".

  Colonel Thomas Bushell was buried on 24th April 1674 in the Little Cloister. The Little Cloister is the area where the clergy have their residences.

  Elizabeth Moore was buried on 5th August 1720 in the east cloister. Her tablet has been moved to the wall of the Dark Cloister.

  Abbot Herbert, of Norman extraction, was a monk at Westminster Abbey from about 1085 and may have come with Gilbert Crispin from Bec.

  In the north cloister of Westminster Abbey is a small wall monument to Rachel (or Rachael) Taylor and her daughter Anne Ludford.
