    His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, visited Westminster Abbey on Wednesday 1st May during a State Visit and laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior.

    Monday, 15th July 2013

    The Coronation Theatre: Portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ralph Heimans goes back on public display in the Chapter House today following conservation work to repair damage to the painting which took place last month.

    A service of Celebration and Thanksgiving will see Scouts gather to honour the traditions and values of the Scout Movement.

  • James and Charlotte Fisher

    In the west cloister is the grave of James Fisher and his sister Charlotte. They were children of the Reverend Francis Fisher of Burpham, Surrey.

    In 2017, Westminster Abbey invited young people from around London to respond to the stories and memories held in the fabric of the building. These young consultants reflected on their experience through a variety of outcomes creating a vibrant and eclectic body of work.

  • London Mayors attend Abbey Evensong

    Monday, 21st October 2013

    Evensong to celebrate the Feast of the Dedication of Westminster Abbey was held in the presence of the Lord Mayor of Westminster and the Mayors of the London Boroughs, together with members of the Greater London Lieutenancy, on Sunday 20th October 2013.

  • Gullan Family

    Several members of the Gullan family of Westminster are buried in St Margaret's church Westminster (although not all of those named on the memorial).

  • James and Richard Hart

    Musician and Composer

    James Hart, born 1647, composer and Gentleman of the Chapel Royal, was buried in the west cloister of Westminster Abbey on 15th May 1718.

  • Spring Family

    In the west cloister of Westminster Abbey is a gravestone for various members of the Spring family. The inscription is faint in places.

  • Sir John Shorditch

    Sir John Shorditch was buried in St Benedict's chapel in 1345. His grave may be that which is now beneath Dr William Bill’s tomb chest.
