  Charles I was the second son of James I and was born on 19th November 1600. He was crowned in Westminster Abbey in February 1626.

• Henry Frederick, Prince of Wales

  Henry Frederick was the eldest son of James I. He died suddenly in 1612 and his funeral was held at Westminster Abbey on 7th December.

  Alexander, Sir James and William Johnstone, sons of Sir James Johnstone of Scotland, are buried in the south cloister of the Abbey.

  In the chapel of St Michael is a monument to Sarah, Duchess of Somerset, philanthropist. This shows a reclining effigy of the Duchess.

  His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester attended a Service of Thanksgiving to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of hostilities in the Korean War at the Abbey on Thursday 11th July.

  Composer, Dancer and Musician

  In 2009 a memorial stone to four founders of the Royal Ballet, Ninette de Valois, Frederick Ashton, Constant Lambert and Margot Fonteyn, was unveiled.
