  The Chisholm family were generous benefactors to the Westminster Abbey restoration appeal. Plaques for various benefactors line the stairway up to the Lady Chapel.

• Arthur, Viscount Lee of Fareham

  Politician, Soldier and Philanthropist

  Arthur Hamilton Lee, Viscount Lee of Fareham was a benefactor to Westminster Abbey. He gave two bronze candelabra and two paintings.

• Richard Steward

  Dean and Priest/Minister

  Richard Steward was nominated Dean of Westminster but he followed the future Charles II into exile during the English Civil War so was never installed.

• Preserving the Sedilia

  Conservation work to has begun stabilise the fragile structure of the 14th century Sedilia, one of Westminster Abbey’s greatest treasures, begins on Tuesday 8th January.

  Richard I's coronation took place in the Abbey on 3rd September 1189 and is the first for which a detailed account exists, describing the ritual.

• Edward Wortley Montagu

  Edward Wortley Montagu, born 1750, illegitimate son of the traveller, diplomat and gambler of the same name, has a memorial tablet in the west cloister.

• Thomas, John & Hartwell Maude

  Sailor

  In St Margaret's church Westminster is a memorial tablet to Thomas, John and Lucia Maude. Also a war damaged brass to Hartwell Maude.

• Zachary and William Pearce

  Dean and Priest/Minister

  In the south aisle of the nave is a memorial with bust to Zachary Pearce, Dean of Westminster. The monument was erected in about 1777.

  Margaret Douglas, Countess of Lennox, was buried, at the expense of Elizabeth I, in the south aisle of Henry VII's chapel in Westminster Abbey.
