    Servant

    Bridget Holmes, a servant to the royal household, was buried in the north cloister on 26th October 1691. Her grave was at the western end.

    Soldier

    Captain George Slaughter was buried in the north cloister. His gravestone is no longer readable but the inscription was recorded in a book.

  • Charles Fitzcharles, Earl of Plymouth

    Charles Fitzcharles, Earl of Plymouth was buried on 18th January 1681 (modern dating) in the vault in Henry VII's chapel formerly occupied by Oliver Cromwell.

  • Lady Mary Biddulph

    Lady Mary Biddulph was buried in the north aisle on 15th September 1689 "near Sir Edward Spragge". It is thought this was the north ambulatory.

  • Henry Frederick, Duke of Cumberland

    Sailor

    Henry Frederick, Duke of Cumberland and Strathern and Earl of Dublin was buried in the Hanoverian vault below the central aisle of Henry VII's chapel.

    John Harrison, the 18th century clockmaker, whose revolutionary precision watch allowed sailors to calculate their ships' longitude, is now honoured with a memorial stone which was unveiled in the Nave by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

    A memorial to Olaudah Equiano, the black campaigner prominent in the 18th century abolitionist movement which brought slavery to an end, was dedicated in St Margaret’s Church at Westminster Abbey on Monday 9th February.
