    In the west cloister of Westminster Abbey is a gravestone for various members of the Spring family. The inscription is faint in places.

    Writer, Poet and Novelist

    A memorial to novelist and poet D.H. Lawrence was unveiled in Poets' Corner on 16th November 1985. It was presented by the D.H. Lawrence Society.

  • Connop Thirlwall

    Historian and Priest/Minister

    Connop Thirlwall, historian and bishop of St David’s, is buried in Poets’ Corner in Westminster Abbey, in the same grave as his friend George Grote.

    Statesman

    Ezekiel, Baron Spanheim was buried in St Paul's chapel. He was Ambassador Extraordinary from the King of Prussia to the Queen of Great Britain.

    Mary Shelvocke was buried in the west cloister on 1st August 1761. Her stone has now nearly worn away and the inscription is very faint.

    Politician and Soldier

    John Darcy died of quinsy on 6th and was buried on 11th January 1689 near one of the pews (so presumably in the Quire area).

    Until it was destroyed during the war there was a stained glass window to musician Vincent Novello in St Andrew's chapel.
