Westminster Abbey’s world-famous choir arrives in Italy this week (Tuesday 26th June) for a tour of Rome and Montecassino which will include singing for Pope Benedict XVI, with the Cappella Musicale Pontificia ‘Sistina’, the Sistine Chapel Choir, at the Papal Mass marking the Solemnity of St Peter and St Paul (Friday 29th June) in St Peter’s Basilica.

Westminster Abbey presented Pope Benedict XVI with a magnificent bound volume of illustrations from its 14th century illuminated manuscript, the Litlyngton Missal, after the ecumenical service of evening prayer on Friday 17th September 2010.

Francis, Baron Cottington of Hanworth, and his wife Anne, have monuments in the chapel of St Paul. He was twice ambassador to Spain.

On the west wall of St Margaret's church Westminster is a small marble tablet to Captain Francis Elliot. Military emblems are shown at the top.

A memorial statue to Francis Horner stands in the west aisle of the north transept of Westminster Abbey. The sculptor was Sir Francis Chantry.

Francis Coghlan, Irish lawyer, was buried in the north cloister of Westminster Abbey but has no marker.

Francis Hughes, well known opera singer of his day, was buried on 21st March 1744 in the west cloister but has no marker.

Soldier
Sir Francis Vere, Elizabethan soldier, and his brother Horace are buried in the chapel of St John the Evangelist in Westminster Abbey. Francis has an interesting monument.

Soldier and Philanthropist
In St Margaret's Church, on the north wall, is a monument to Francis Egioke, near his grave. It consists of a kneeling figure in armour.
