  In the north cloister is the grave of politician Kenneth, Baron Muir Mackenzie. He was born on 29th June 1845 at Delvine in Perthshire.

  On 14th February 1995 a small stained glass memorial was unveiled in Poets' Corner Westminster Abbey for Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wilde, playwright and aesthete.

• Harrison Memorial Unveiled

  Tuesday, 28th March 2006

  John Harrison, the 18th century clockmaker, whose revolutionary precision watch allowed sailors to calculate their ships' longitude, is now honoured with a memorial stone which was unveiled in the Nave by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

  Roger de Quincy, Earl of Winchester, constable of Scotland, was a benefactor to the building of Henry III's new Gothic Westminster Abbey, begun in 1245.

  The Chisholm family were generous benefactors to the Westminster Abbey restoration appeal. Plaques for various benefactors line the stairway up to the Lady Chapel.

  Edward Woodroofe was a mason and surveyor at Westminster Abbey. He was buried in the north cloister.

• Thomas Whitby

  Thomas Whitby, of Hounslow in Middlesex, was buried in the south ambulatory on 25th January 1622 but he has no monument or marker.
