• Queen’s Organ dedicated in Lady Chapel

  His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex attended the dedication of a new organ in Westminster Abbey’s Lady Chapel on Tuesday 5th November.

• Elizabeth daughter of Henry VII

  In the chapel of St Edward the Confessor is a small tomb with a black marble slab for Elizabeth, daughter of Henry VII.

• Lady Anne Bertie

  Lady Anne Bertie was buried in St Michael's chapel at Westminster Abbey on 22nd March 1661 but she has no marker or monument.

• Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother

  Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother was married and crowned in the Abbey and had her funeral here in 2002.

  Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon was born on 4th August 1900 in London, a daughter of Lord and Lady Glamis, who later became the Earl and Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne.

• Elizabeth Corbett and Mildred Hotham

  On the north wall of St Margaret's is a tablet to Elizabeth Corbett and Lady Mildred Hotham. The epitaph verses were composed by Alexander Pope.

• Henry VII and Elizabeth of York

  Henry VII’s coronation took place in October 1485. Henry VII and his wife Elizabeth of York were the first monarchs to be buried in the Abbey’s Lady Chapel.

• Lady Mary Biddulph

  Lady Mary Biddulph was buried in the north aisle on 15th September 1689 "near Sir Edward Spragge". It is thought this was the north ambulatory.

• Catherine, Lady Walpole

  Catherine, Lady Walpole, wife of Sir Robert Walpole, Viscount Walpole and Baron Houghton, has a marble memorial in the south aisle of Henry VII's chapel.

  Her father was a timber merchant and her mother was Lady Elizabeth Philipps.

• Lady Susanna Williams

  Lady Susanna Williams was buried "near Sir Edward Spragge" on 26th September 1689. This was most probably in the north ambulatory but neither have markers.

• Jane, Lady Clifford

  Jane, Lady Clifford's monument stands in the chapel of St Nicholas. The marble monument may be ascribed to sculptor John Bushnell, on stylistic grounds.

• Abbey to honour Cranford’s creator

  Friday, 8th January 2010

  Elizabeth Gaskell, whose novel Cranford formed the basis of one of the BBC’s prime-time television drama successes, will be honoured with a memorial in a window panel in Poets’ Corner in Westminster Abbey.

  Politician and Soldier

  A large white marble monument to Elizabeth, Duchess of Northumberland stands in this chapel. This was designed by Robert Adam and sculpted by Nicholas Read.

  He married Lady Elizabeth Montagu Douglas Scott and served in the army.

  Elizabeth de Vere, Countess of Derby was buried in the chapel of St Nicholas in Westminster Abbey but has no marker.

• First Lady brings Obama family for Abbey visit

  Michelle Obama, the United States of America’s First Lady, brought her two daughters to Westminster Abbey for an hour-long visit on Tuesday 9th June 2009.

• Sir Thomas Robinson & Lady Lechmere

  Architect

  In the south transept is a memorial to Sir Thomas Robinson, architect, and his wife Elizabeth, Lady Lechmere. The monument incorporates two busts.

• Catherine, Lady St John of Bletso

  Catherine, Lady St John of Bletso was buried in Westminster Abbey in March 1615. Her monument had originally shown her two children, Oliver and Anne.
