New Abbey Choir CD celebrates neglected Tudor composer

The Abbey Choir celebrates the release of a new CD on Hyperion Records today, Friday 2nd March. Conducted by James O’Donnell, who also plays the organ interludes on the disc, Missa Videte miraculum is a compelling introduction to the work of early Tudor composer Nicholas Ludford (c. 1485 – c. 1557).

Arthur Clarke
Arthur Clarke gave the celestial organ in 1895 in memory of his wife. He has a small white marble tablet in the south choir aisle.

The Dean and Chapter of Westminster is delighted to announce that Daniel Cook has been appointed Sub-Organist of Westminster Abbey in succession to Robert Quinney, who takes up the position of Director of Music at Peterborough Cathedral after Easter.

Paul Greally
As Assistant Organist, Paul Greally works alongside the Sub-Organist and Organ Scholar in playing for services in the Abbey, assisting with conducting the Abbey Choir, and with training the choristers. He also coordinates the Abbey’s weekly Sunday Organ Recitals.
