First public display in London for Diamond Jubilee Portrait of The Queen

A portrait of Her Majesty The Queen depicted standing on the Cosmati pavement in Westminster Abbey will go on public display for the first time in London as part of the Abbey’s celebrations for the 60th anniversary of The Queen’s coronation.

Richard de Ware was Abbot of Westminster from 1258-1283 and is buried beneath the Cosmati pavement, in front of the High Altar of Westminster Abbey.

Abbot and Priest/Minister
Walter de Wenlok was Abbot of Westminster from 31st December 1283 until his death on 25th December 1307. He was buried beneath the Cosmati pavement.

The Queen to visit Abbey for 450th anniversary
