  Priest/Minister

  In the Dark cloister area, leading to the Little Cloister, is a wall tablet to James William Dodd. He was buried in the east cloister.

• William Postard

  Abbot and Priest/Minister

  William Postard was Abbot of Westminster from 9th October 1191. He died on 4th May 1200 and was buried in the south cloister.

• Bridget Holmes

  Servant

  Bridget Holmes, a servant to the royal household, was buried in the north cloister on 26th October 1691. Her grave was at the western end.

• Sarah Thorpe

  In the Dark Cloister area is the grave of Sarah Thorpe. Only the words "THORPE" and the date 1776 can now be read.

• Jane Rider

  In the south cloister of Westminster Abbey is a wall memorial to Jane Rider. It is not clear why she was buried in the cloisters.

  Musician

  William Punter, Precentor of Westminster Abbey and musician, was buried in the cloisters in 1597 but the exact location is not known.

  George Slemaker, porter and bell ringer at Westminster Abbey, is buried in the south cloister with his wife Susanna.

  In the west cloister is the grave of James Fisher and his sister Charlotte. They were children of the Reverend Francis Fisher of Burpham, Surrey.

  Henry Spoore (or Spurr), Clerk of the Works at Westminster Abbey from 1696-1703, was buried in the south cloister. His stone cannot now be seen.

• Susannah Bernard

  In the north cloister is a small white marble tablet to Susannah Bernard. Unfortunately when the inscription was re-painted the date was put wrongly.

  In east cloister is a tablet to Jane Lister, daughter of Dr Martin Lister F.R.S. eminent zoologist and physician of York and his wife Hannah.

  Richard Guise, singer and composer, was buried in the north cloister on 17th March 1806. He never seems to have had an inscribed gravestone.

• Robert Marsh

  Robert Marsh was Receiver General of Westminster Abbey and was buried in the north cloister. He was appointed joint Receiver with J.H. Gell in 1854.

  The effigy of Abbot Gilbert Crispin is now under an arch beneath the stone bench of the south cloister. It is the oldest effigy here.

  Henry Cooke, composer and singer, was buried in the east cloister of Westminster Abbey on 17th July 1672. No gravestone inscription was recorded for him.

  Diplomat

  William Aglionby was buried in the east cloister but his gravestone has now worn away. His grave was near the wall monument to Edmund Godfrey.

  In the north cloister of Westminster Abbey is a tablet to George Jewell, schoolmaster, Wife Lucia is buried with him. Her second husband was Vincent Bourne, poet.

• Mary Pomeroy, Viscountess Harberton

  On 31st January 1823 Mary, Viscountess Harberton of Connaught Place, Edgware, was buried in the south cloister of Westminster Abbey, aged 63.

• Robert Southey (gardener)

  Robert Southey was gardener at Westminster Abbey. He also held the post of Keeper of the Orchards and tended the lamps in the precincts.

• Thomas Finny

  Thomas Finny, an assistant carpenter, was buried in the Dark Cloister area, near the Undercroft door. He worked for the Abbey from at least 1753.
