  When Charles Dickens died at his home in Kent on 9th June 1870, it was presumed that he would be buried in Rochester Cathedral or in one of the nearby parish churches at Cobham or Shorne. This, after all, was what the author of some of the greatest novels in the English language had wanted.

  Richard Warburton, descended from the ancient family of Warburton, was buried in the south cloister on 29th October 1771, but he has no readable gravestone.

  The Hon. Henry Grove, Lieutenant General, who fought in Flanders under the Duke of Marlborough, was buried in the east cloister on 26th November 1736.

  Maria Teresa Sciaccaluga, a daughter of Bartolomeo Valle, merchant, was buried in the east cloister of Westminster Abbey on 2nd November 1766.

• Benjamin Fidoe

  Benjamin Fidoe was buried in the cloisters. He was a verger from 1725 and in 1748 became butler and brewer to the College of Westminster.

  The Honourable Rebecca Folliott was buried in the north ambulatory on 9th September 1697. She was a daughter of Henry, Lord Folliott of Ballyshannon, Ireland.

  Timothy Brent, Surveyor General to the Duchy of Cornwall, was buried in the north cloister of Westminster Abbey.

  General Staats Long Morris is probably the only American buried in Westminster Abbey. His grave is in the north aisle of the nave.

  Major General Randolph Egerton, his two wives, two sons and a daughter are buried in the north aisle of the nave of Westminster Abbey.

• Mary & Elizabeth Illingworth

  Mary Illingworth and her mother Elizabeth are buried in the north transept of Westminster Abbey. The gravestone is near Robert Peel's statue.

  Sir Hugh Vaughan died on 28th August 1536 and was buried in the chapel of St Michael. He seems never to have had a monument.

  William de Curtlyngton was Abbot of Westminster from 1315-1333. He was buried in front of the altar in the chapel of St Benedict, Westminster Abbey.
