South African President visits Abbey

His Excellency Jacob Zuma, President of the Republic of South Africa, visited the Abbey and laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior during his state visit to the UK this week.

Mr Zuma, who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Thobeka Madiba Zuma, was greeted by the Dean, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, and Chapter together with members of College.

The Dean escorted President Zuma on a short tour of the Abbey and invited him to signed the distinguished visitors’ book.

On his departure President Zuma presented the Dean with a set of glasses decorated with pewter heads representing African wildlife.
