Dementia Friendly Visit: Poets' Corner
Join us for a bespoke dementia friendly tour in the world-famous Poets’ Corner, followed by refreshments and creative writing.
Spend time in Poets’ Corner and learn more about the fascinating people who are buried and remembered in this part of the Abbey. Why do Thomas Hardy’s ashes rest here while his heart lies in Dorset? What was life like for Queen Victoria’s Poet Laureate, Alfred, Lord Tennyson? Hear these stories and more on this slow, unhurried tour with frequent opportunities to sit and take in the surroundings.
Afterwards enjoy drinks and biscuits in our Undercroft whilst having a go at composing your own poem using verses penned by the writers of Poets’ Corner.
This event is for people living with dementia and their companions to enjoy together. Please let us know in advance if you have any accessibility requirements so we can adapt the tour route.
