Discover the wealth of connections between Britain and the Commonwealth on this special tour of Westminster Abbey.
Beyond the Abbey’s role as host of the annual Commonwealth Service, find out about the objects and memorials that tell the story of Britain’s complex and evolving relationship with the Commonwealth. Founded 75 years ago, the modern Commonwealth is an association of 56 member states with a combined population of 2.5 billion citizens, almost a third of the world's people, spanning Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Pacific.
- The Nave, home of the Grave of the Unknown Warrior
- The Samaria chamber, a private room where British and Empire fighting forces are remembered
- The Quire and High Altar, the site of the annual Commonwealth service
- The Shrine, the most sacred part of the Abbey that houses the Canada Chairs
- The Lady Chapel, a stunning chapel which celebrates international coalitions
- Poets’ Corner, which creative minds are remembered

Ticketing information
There is a maximum of 15 people per tour. This tour is 75 minutes long.
This tour will take you through Westminster Abbey and it will conclude at the end of the visitor route.
This event does not include self-guided entry to Westminster Abbey. If you'd like to also book a self-guided ticket, we recommend looking at the Visit us pages to plan a visit during opening hours.
Age suitability

This event will meet at the West Doors.
Access and security
Please have your ticket ready to show our staff (either printed or on your mobile phone).
On your arrival, your bag will be searched and we ask you not to bring any large items with you (for example suitcases, large backpacks or folding bicycles) as these will not be allowed inside and we are unable to store them for you.
The Abbey has uneven floors and parts of the tour may only be accessible up a flight of steps.
