Join British Sign Language guide Edward Richards for a captivating tour covering nearly 1,000 years of coronations at Westminster Abbey.

Examine the 700-year-old Coronation Chair, stand next to the Coronation Theatre and gaze upon the stunning Cosmati Pavement as you hear highlights from the 39 coronations that have taken place since 1066. Find out how oaths, anointing and music have shaped the crowning of monarchs for centuries as you explore the key spaces in the Abbey that bring the Crown to life.

This tour is exclusively delivered in British Sign Language, open to British Sign Language users and those studying British Sign Language. We retain the right to turn away tickets holders without refund for those who do not meet this condition. If you do not use or study BSL, please explore our other tour offers.   

British Sign Language is a visual spatial language. It involves a combination of hand shapes, facial expressions, lip patterns and body language.

Ticketing information 

There is a maximum of 15 people per tour. 

This tour will last for approximately 60 minutes. 

This event does not include self-guided entry to Westminster Abbey. If you'd like to also book a self-guided ticket, we recommend looking at the Visit us pages to plan a visit during opening hours.

Age suitability

Children under the age of 17 will not be permitted on this tour, please see our family pages for information and events to explore this theme as a family.  

Meeting location

This event will meet by the Cloister Entrance to Westminster Abbey in Dean's Yard. 

Access and security 

​​​Please have your ticket ready to show our staff (either printed or on your mobile phone). 

​On your arrival, your bag will be searched, and we ask you not to bring any large items with you (for example suitcases, large backpacks or folding bicycles) as these will not be allowed inside and we are unable to store them for you.
