Panel discussion: Faith in democracy
In collaboration with Theos, leading thinkers will examine how people of all faiths and none can help strengthen the future of democracy.
Chaired by broadcaster Mishal Husain, hear from a distinguished panel including Dame Caroline Spelman, Vicky Fox, Dr Nick Spencer, and the Revd Dr James Hawkey about the prominent role faith has played in the evolution of British democracy. Together, they will consider what trust means at a time when political debate is frequently fractured, how citizens with profoundly different convictions can find common ground, and what it takes to disagree well when divisions run deep. In an increasingly pluralist and multi faith society, what are the shared values that can continue to sustain public trust and democratic consent?

Westminster Abbey Institute aims to nurture and revitalise moral and spiritual values in public life and service. It seeks to replenish and sustain public servants of all faiths and none, and to celebrate and animate public service as a force for good. The Institute draws on Westminster Abbey’s resources of spirituality and theological learning, rooted in its daily worshipping life and broader Christian tradition, to convene discussion, nourish reflection and inspire regeneration.
