Duke of Edinburgh opens Field of Remembrance

HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, opened the Field of Remembrance on Thursday - the 78th year the Abbey has hosted this unique tribute to the soldiers, sailors and aircrew who have died in the service of their country.

Brazilian State Visit

During the afternoon of Tuesday 7th March, The President and Senhora Lula da Silva visited the Abbey and The President laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior.
The President and Senhora Lula da Silva were received the Sub-Dean, Canon Robert Wright, who presided over the wreath-laying.

Lady Margaret Beaufort Wreath Laying

In 1505, the Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of King Henry VII, and founder of the Tudor dynasty, re-founded the college of God's House (first established in 1437 for the training of grammar school masters) naming it Christ's College.
This years' wreath laying on 31st May by representatives of Christ's College, Cambridge, was led by Canon Robert Wright and celebrates their founding.
