  In St Margaret's is a memorial tablet to George Sparrow, Government agent, and members of his family. Unfortunately this is now hidden behind the organ.

  The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Justin Welby, gave the Address at Service for the New Parliament at St Margaret's Church.

• Florence Nightingale remembered at annual service

  A Service to Commemorate the Life of Florence Nightingale was held at Westminster Abbey at 6.30pm on Wednesday 12th May 2025. The service is held annually to celebrate nursing and midwifery and all staff, both qualified and unqualified, and the importance of supporting one another through challenging times.

  The Reverend Mark Rylands, Canon Missioner for Exeter Diocese and Cathedral, was ordained and consecrated to the episcopate as Suffragan Bishop of Shrewsbury by the Archbishop of Canterbury and other bishops at a Eucharist in the Abbey on Wednesday 28th October 2009.

  A Service of Blessing for the Benedictine Torch took place at Westminster Abbey on Wednesday 2nd March at 12 noon.

• Ordination and Consecration of Bishops Service held at Abbey

  The Reverend Canon John Holbrook, Rector of Wimborne Minster, was ordained and consecrated Bishop of Brixworth in the Diocese of Peterborough, and The Very Reverend Jonathan Meyrick, Dean of Exeter, was ordained and consecrated Bishop of Lynn in the Diocese of Norwich at a Eucharist at Westminster Abbey on Ascension day, 2nd June 2011.

• HM The Queen attends 2012 Commonwealth celebration

  An Observance for Commonwealth Day at Westminster Abbey on Monday 12th March 2012 was attended by HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh with HRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and HRH The Countess of Wessex.
